Milestone Meeting Aachen

2nd KIBARtronik Milestone Meeting

April 22-23, 2026INC Innovation Center, Aachen

The KIBARtronik project has reached its second major milestone. The project consortium met for two intensive coworking days at the INC Innovation Center headquarters in Aachen to review progress and define the next steps for the development of the AI-based solution.

It was great to bring together all project partners — Fraunhofer IIS, Arvato and SAGEMCOM — as well as the associated partners Brose Group, Deutsche Telekom and Miele.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to jointly reflect on the work completed since November and to align strategically on the way forward. Key results presented and discussed included: an enhanced market and value chain understanding of the circular electronics sector based on expert interviews, the validation of core user stories and personas for the future AI-based solution, and the current status of X-ray and optical testing at Fraunhofer, which forms a crucial foundation for the upcoming AI development.

Beyond reviewing results, the milestone meeting served as a strategic checkpoint. Together, the consortium sharpened the overall solution concept, clarified its primary capabilities, and further defined the target audiences to be addressed.

With the successful completion of this milestone meeting, Work Package 1 (Requirements Analysis & System Concept) is now officially concluded. The project now enters Work Packages 2 and 3, focusing on the economic valuation model and the development of AI-based image analysis and decision-making components at the core of KIBARtronik.

We thank all partners for the open discussions, valuable feedback and strong collaboration, and look forward to moving from validated concepts into implementation.
